The California Research and Academic Libraries (CARL) Conference of 2024 will be here soon, and we want you to be a part of it!
The conference is scheduled for April 3-6 in San Jose, California. The theme for the conference is The Insufficient Librarian, which focuses on the human aspect of academic librarianship. It is a holistic approach to examining/self-examining librarian growth, conflict and limitations/barriers in the academic library field.
CARL hosts a multi-day conference every two years. This will be our first in-person conference post-pandemic. CARL attendees share a passion for professional growth, learning, innovation, collaboration and outside the box approaches to delivering information.
We have a growing lineup of conference workshops, lunch and learn sessions, networking opportunities, exhibit hall and more. We are confident that the CARL Conference 2024 will be a success — but our success depends on your involvement. Vendor sponsorships make the difference in the quality of the experience for our members. We are currently seeking new and previous partners to sponsor and exhibit at the 2024 CARL conference. There are many opportunities for support.
- CARL President’s Circle — $5,500.00
- CARL Navigator — $3,500.00
- CARL Associate — $1,500.00
- CARL Patron — $850.00
In addition to the sponsorship opportunities above, please consider contributing to meals and coffee, keynotes and learning opportunities, and attendee grants.
We believe that the vendors we invite to participate in CARL must be good stewards of information and uphold the ALA Code of Ethics. Since our vendors have a great deal of access to librarians throughout the state of California through the CARL Conference, we will only be inviting vendors who:
- Are dedicated to the sharing of knowledge and research first and foremost over profit
- Engage in good faith negotiations and are transparent in their motives, negotiation and pricing structures¹
- Respect the privacy and humanity of our users, and do not not engage in the practice of selling information to law enforcement
- Use taxpayer money through publicly-funded institutions in an ethically, morally, and socially responsible way²
We understand that this may reduce our resources to put on a conference that is comparable to conferences in the past. We believe, however, that we are well past the point to allow vendors who do not uphold our values access to librarians and libraries throughout California. In order to mitigate the potential loss of revenue from sponsors, CARL will be implementing a Member Sponsor option for those attendees who would like to support the conference for their fellow librarians.
Please know how much we appreciate your support. Don’t delay. Opportunities are reserved on a first come, first served basis!
